My Motorcycle Ride In Malibu, CA a Few Years Ago
Ride Time: 4 hours or So
Description:
Start Point: At the Promenade in Westlake Village, CA
End Point: At the Santa Monica Pier, CA
Here's the best way to take this route. Start off getting a good lunch at Pastabilities or if you are riding in the wee hours of the morning, get some coffee at Bristol Farms at the Promenade Shopping Center in Westlake Village, CA. Exit out onto Thousand Oaks Boulevard and then south on Westlake Boulevard crossing over the 101 freeway. You are now on State Route 23. Stay on this road until it until you pass the Malibu Country Club. Afterwards keep right onto Mullholland Highway until you reach Pacific Coast Highway. Go south on the 1 until you come back to the 23, also known as Decker Canyon Road, go past it and turn left onto Encinal Canyon road which winds around and up until you come to Rattlesnake Road on the right. If you get to Decker Canyon road, you have gone to far. Turn around until you come to Rattlesnake road and head north east; Now Turn right at Encinal Canyon Road. Take this until it turns into Mulholland Hwy, go right. Follow this winding road until you come to Old Topanga Canyon, go past it and stay on Mulholland Hwy. A few mile later, Mulholland Hwy splits into Mulholland Drive, turn right or east. Go through Topanga Canyon Blvd. Very shortly afterwards veer right onto Mulholland Drive. If you don't you will end up on Canoga Avenue. You don't want this. Veer right on Mulholland Drive. At Santa Maria Road, make a left onto Mulholland Drive, then keep right, past Greenbriar Drive. You will shortly be on top of the mountain looking into the city. Stay and ride on Mulholland Drive all the way past and under the 405 freeway. When you can, make a right onto N. Beverly Glen Boulevard. You are riding through Beverly Hills. Enjoy the view. Make a left and head east on W. Sunset Boulevard. Make a right on San Vicente Blvd and head south until you come to Wilshire Blvd. Make a right and head west. You have now riden your motorcycle through Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Now take Wilshire all the way out until you hit Ocean Ave, go right or north just for a bit, staying in the left lane to turn down onto PCH. Now turn left/south onto PCH until you come to the Santa Monica Pier. Find a place to park, and enjoy the view. This is a taxing ride, but well worth the scenery.
